The club (Hinckley Gymnastics Club) is now in its 50th year.
Now with 800 members and 2 dedicated with 8 full time staff and 15 part time coaches, assistants and young leaders.
The facility in Hinckley (the first self build, yes we really did build it brick by brick, dedicated pitted facility is a relatively small venue with raised pits and is mostly used for skill training. The Leicester facility at New College was built in in 2009 with dedicated seating for 400 spectators. It hosts around 45 spectator events each year staging GB, English, Regional, County and Club competitions and shows.
To remain “top of the event game” the need to refit regularly is a must and the decision to partner with Gymnova was very much a logical progression to have available a full set of 10 Artistic apparatus that fitted the National pathway of competition requirements where Gymnova is the leading supplier to British Gymnastics and International events across the world.
The Gymnastics Centre at New College in Leicester is unique and was a strategic development to close a gap in the provision of small arena competitions and has in its 9 years staged close to 500 events with 20,000 spectators through the gates each year.
Some days and evenings see 1,000 people a day pass through. The venue was the launch pad for the English Championships showpiece MA and WA combined championships and was a haven for the GB MA events during the difficult years 2008-2012 after which GB became a world leader in performance.
Club Chairman Tony Ford said “ from a small club we have developed to return a huge investment to the sport. With plans to further develop the Leicester venue on the drawing Board I think our partnership with Gymnova will be a long and successful venture.
